Social Networking Flaws

Published On: July 29, 2010

I believe in social networking. I believe it's a great way to get your name out there and show people what you do for a living. But when is it too much?

I try to post about 4 or 5 times a day. My post will vary between real estate related topics and personal things through out the day. Why? Because I want people to recognize that I am a human being! When some one does nothing but post item after item after item about their profession, people get bored, and that's when the "ignore" button gets hit. I want people to read my updates and say "Oh look! Tony likes baseball. I can relate with that!" or "Tony, I love those inspirational quotes you do every morning!"

Right now I bet I have friends on Facebook and people I follow on Twitter, that post 20 to 30 posts per day of nothing but real estate articles. I have to be honest...most I don't even glance at! I read the ones that don't post too much and like to throw in some personal issues too. Unfortunatly, there is not a lot of those.

So for those of you who do not have a business to promote, please enjoy by updates and tweets. For those of you trying to show your expertise...calm down! Nobody wants to read that much in one hour.
